Tournament Rules


 



  1. Tournament specific rules are covered below. Rules not specifically outlined below are covered by the NFHS Baseball Rules.

  2. Please have your team warmed up and ready to play.

  3. No infield before games unless time permits and both teams must get equal time. 

  4. Base paths will be 70’ and the pitching distance is 48’

  5. All teams will play three (3) games in pool play and one (1) crossover game.  12 teams will be seeded into the single elimination Championship round.   All other teams will play a consolation game.  In the crossover games, 1 seeds will play 1 seeds, 2 seeds will play 2 seeds and so on.  There will be 5 pool winners and 7 wild cards.  Seeding will be by 1.) Record 2.) Head to Head 3.) Runs allowed 4.) Runs Scored 5.) Coin Flip.  Pool winners will be seeded 1-5.  When 3 or more teams are tied, tiebreaker priorities are used to select or seed the first team. Subsequent team selections and seeds start back at tie-breaker priority #1 (win-loss record). This process repeats itself until all necessary teams are selected or seeded.

  6. All games in pool play will be six (6) innings with a 2 hour 15 minute time limit.  Tie games may go 9 innings and then are declared a tie.

  7. Championship round games will be played to completion.  Mercy rule – Eight (8) after five (5) innings, twelve (12) after four and fifteen (15) after three (3) innings.  No run rule in Championship game.

  8. The winning team must submit results and pitching form (signed by both coaches) to the assigned field director at the end of each game.

  9. Pitching Rules – A pitcher may throw a maximum of 6 innings in one day and a maximum of 10 innings during the tournament. A pitch thrown in an inning constitutes an inning. Each team must turn in the pitching form provided in your coach’s packet after each game to the tournament director.  Form must be signed by each coach.  This is not a “Gotcha Rule”! There is no forfeit with this rule unless a coach refuses to remove a pitcher that has exceeded his innings limit. Any parent, coach, field director or tournament director can alert a coach that a pitcher has reached his limit.

  10. You may bat 9, use an EH and/or a DH. Free defensive substations if you bat roster. You may also roster bat. You have free defensive substations if you bat roster. If you roster bat and a player becomes sick or injured, you may skip that spot in the order without penalty.

  11. Courtesy runner for the catcher only at any time but with 2 out is mandatory.  The courtesy runner must be a player not currently in the lineup.  If you roster bat you may use the last recorded out as the courtesy runner.

  12. Base runner must slide or attempt to avoid contact.

  13. Each team will provide two (2) quality baseballs per game.

  14. $50.00 cash protest fee.  Protest decided on the field by umpire and tournament director.  Protest fee returned if protest upheld.

  15. Flip for home team.  Higher seed will be home team in Championship round

  16. No glass containers allowed in the dugout.  NO COOLERS (other than team cooler) OR PETS ALLOWED IN THE BALL PARKI repeat: NO COOLERS OR PETS ALLOWED IN THE BALL PARK. Please make your parents aware of this rule.

  17. The head coach is responsible for the behavior of coaches, parents, and fans.

  18. The umpires are in charge of the game.  Excessive arguing or abuse will not be tolerated.  The umpires’ decision on any judgment call is final.  Rule interpretation can be discussed with the tournament director.   

  19. All participants are competing at their own risk. By participating you agree to hold the Tournament director, Tournament officials, tournament hosts, and tournament sponsors harmless from any liability resulting from participation in the tournament. Team insurance is mandatory and must be available upon request.


 


IN CASE OF INCLEMMENT WEATHER, THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO RE-FORMAT THE TOURNAMENT.  NO FEE REFUND WILL BE ISSUED FOR GAMES MISSED.
